League Nights

Final Fantasy TCG

League Structure

Leagues are a fun way to experience the Final Fantasy TCG game. Seeing the development of yourself over a course of seasons, enjoying the ups and downs with others, and perhaps even achieving some kind of glory at the end of it.

During the League seasons, each week you will have the opportunity to play in  3 ranked games. These will have a pairing every Thursday during our casual gaming nights and will be displayed on this website for all league players to view. If players missed this night they will have an opportunity to make up the games on their own time playing against their matched opponent before the next week is posted.

Once a season is finished their scores are tallied and a placing is determined using the league point system. In case of tie scores, a strength of schedule is used to determine the results.

League is completely optional way to play, this structure is volunteer based only. Players can decide at the start of a new season to opt in or out.

League Seasons

Each season players will need to inform the LO (League Organizer) who is looking to take part in the league. Each season lasts for 3 months pairing with the releases of the Opus booster boxes. During the league players will be given ranked pairings of players to play against during that week. When the league reaches the last day, the final totals are calculated and winners are announced. This will conclude the Season the scores will be posted on this website and all points reset for the next season.

Ranked Games Scoring

During a season of a league players will be given ranked games to play sometime during the week. Players will be using the normally FFTCG rules when playing their game plus the special League rules explained later. Players will inform the LO the results of the ranked games which will be recorded.

Scoring points goes as follows:

Player wins a ranked game: +3 points
Player Loses a ranked game: +1 point
Players Tie (rare): +2 points per player

There is also a learners bracket point to help keep the playing field balanced. If a player has started the game within a year or if they had returned to the game after being away for 2 years (not playing or collecting) they can opt into this bracket. Those who are part of this will get +1 points per week in which they play all 3 ranked games. After a player is considered a seasoned player they can no longer opt into this league learners bracket program.

Special League Rules

In addition to the standard FFTCG rules the following are added when playing a ranked game.

  1. Players whom play a ranked game must agree to do so before starting the game. Ranked games cannot be opted out while in progress no matter the result.
  2. Players may choose any legal FFTCG deck as per restrictions on the FFTCG’s website. This deck can be swapped before the start of any ranked game and doesn’t require to be the same as previously played. this including changing cards.
  3. League rank games have 1 week plus a day to be played from the time pairings are announced. This can be played online or in person as long as both players agree to the game before playing. If a player cannot play during that week, the opposing player may get a different pairing to those who are available.
  4.  All ranked games are a single match play. When a game finishes, one of the players will inform an LO  the results. If there is any discrepancy with the results, LO will have the final say in the matter once the issue is investigated.

F.A.Q

Do I have to play in the league on FFTCG casual nights?

No. There is no obligation to play any ranked games on the casual night. However, for those who have opted in, they still have until the following week to play the ranked games.

What happens if I miss a week of league, can I make up the games?

Pairing are made every Thursday, players have until the end of the next Thursday to play the ranked games. This allows people to store up to 6 ranked games which they could play on the casual nights. If the pairing player is not available on the last day, alternative pairing can be made at the LO discretion.

If a player or players do not get the ranked game in by 1 week plus a day from the time of pairing, those points are lost and cannot be made up again in the future. This includes the last week which the season would end it.
