FFTCG League Nights (Coming Soon?)

I am looking to start up a league that will go hand in hand with our Casual Thursday nights.

The league will be a point system that will last for 3 months. This point system will show wins/loses and win rate and among other information that might be included. After the 3 months the rating of players will be displayed for that season then reset for the next.

Each Thursday there will be 3 ranked games. The rest for the night are casual as per normal. Players can opt on or out of playing ranked games before the pairing are made. Each ranked game will test the gameplay and deck building skills of the players. Players are free to change decks as they see fit between matches.

Details now under the FFTCG tab on this site.

The Lockdown Continues

With the current real life pandemic still raging on in Eastern Canada, there has been no new bord games getting played therefore nothing to record. Boo! However, I have been using my twitch.tv channel to record some new board game released content and putting it on the rolling intentions youtube.

So far I have been a rogue-like card game Banner of Ruin, Elder Sign: Omens and I am not just starting Gloomhaven. I am also trying to get a handle of the tabletop simulator in hopes this will be a better alternative to playing our board games. More update on that some other day!

For now check out the Gloomhaven which will be made into a Guild-master series. Please keep in mind that this game does have spoilers for the original game so if you don’t wanna be spoiled, check out Elder Sign: Omens!

Vicaroth’s Video Games – New Content

If you have been following the youtube channel you might have been noticing there is some revival in items appearing. With this the twitch.tv channel has also gained some activity. If you enjoy just watching people play some random video games I would recommend you check out one or the other as the content should be uploaded on both at some point.

That being said, This Saturday January 30, 2021 – I will be attempting an all day stream on twitch.tv for content. I will be playing Dark Soul from where we last left off. There might also be some Genshin Impact and Rogue Legacy in the mix so be sure to check it out.

Reviving the “DEAD” in 2021

Android: Netrunner is a LCG (Living Card Game) made by fantasy flight in 2012 until it suddenly died in 2018 due to licencing issues. While this game actually goes back even farther with a TCG made by a different company, the best of the two has to be the FFG version. The game turned a lot of heads in it’s prime with it’s asymmetrical game play style and the cool cyberpunk art.

So why is a dead LCG game still relevant in 2020 ? Well.. the game rocks to be frank.

Some groups like NISEI are trying to keep things alive and make things fresh by creating their own content of cards and hosting tournaments. Here in St. John’s the game had a decent sized group of players that adored the game from the start. While the number sometimes bounced up and down over the course of 6 years the fascination for the game didn’t. Some might say the game died in it’s prime while others pit the sudden downfall to be the horrible changes to the rules and the re-release of a “revised” core set. This alone made a lot of people upset, especially those that were heavily invested into the game. Now with the end of FFG production, it is possibl to aim for a price point and buy the entire collection. This can be very appealing to some people who like to have it all.

The local scene has since complete died in 2017, with the Facebook group ‘The Avalon Grid’ not having any posts in over 2 years. However, that has now changed with the idea of a revival, a rebirth of sorts. There will be more news in the near future about it soon. If you still have your Netrunner cards it might be a good idea to hang onto this a while longer yet. The Grid is coming back online and you won’t wanna miss your chance to play. Right now due to the COVID restrictions, no local events are being hosted but perhaps there might be some games popping up in the Jentki.net servers in the near future. so jump online, try and break through the corporate ICE or tag those pesky runners, scorch the earth.
